PEORIA HEIGHTS (25News Now) -Children playing at Lions Memorial Park in Peoria Heights will soon have a new, safer surface under their feet as the village upgrades play areas at three local parks in the area.
The improvements include recycled rubberized mulch around slides and swings to create a more accessible play space for children.
Mayor Matt Wigginton said each park should take about a week to complete, with work at Lions Memorial Park expected to wrap up by the end of this week.
Wigginton added the village has already covered the costs, with each project coming in at less than $10,000.
