Sunday afternoon storms resulted in one death in Peoria.
First responders were dispatched to 4209 N. Dayton Avenue at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man unresponsive in the yard.
The man, identified as Nathaniel Peck, 39, was found by a neighbor lying next to a 40-foot-long tree limb. The limb appeared to have fallen from a tree during thunderstorm wind gusts and struck Peck.
The Peoria County coroner says Peck was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m.
Coroner Jamie Harwood said Peck’s death was caused by severe blunt force trauma from being struck by the tree limb. There will be no autopsy. Initial toxicology testing was negative.
