SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday reported another spike of cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period.
The IDPH reported 1,941 new cases reported from Thursday to Friday.
This is the closest the state has been to 2,000 cases since May 24th, when there were over 2,500.
21 additional people have died from the virus during that time.
Labs across the state hits more than 49,782 specimens taken over the 24-hour period.
As of Thursday night, 1,369 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 346 patients were in the ICU and 148 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate reported on Friday was at 3.9%.
