PEORIA, Ill. — The opportunity for all-virtual learning at Peoria Public Schools is at capacity, and some parents aren’t happy about it.
PPS Spokesperson Thomas Bruch said families had until July 24 to decide what learning option they’d use for going back to school on August 19, either full-time virtual learning from home, or the hybrid plan.
The deadline for the all-virtual option was extended two days past the deadline in hopes of giving more families an opportunity to sign up.
Bruch told news partner 25 News, there are slots open for new an incoming students to apply in-person for all-virtual instruction, but returning PPS families have to go on a waiting list.
At issue is the number of teachers needs to facilitate the all-virtual option of learning.
