PEORIA, Ill. — The discussion was brought up during Monday night’s Peoria Public Schools Board of Education meeting on when to set the first day of school for students for the 2020-2021 school year.
The following decision was announced Wednesday night to begin the first day of school with Distance Learning for Peoria Public Schools students on Monday, August 24th.
The starting day for teachers will still be Monday, August 17.
According to PPS, the adjustment will allow all Peoria Public Schools stakeholders to be ready for Distance Learning, and to ensure students to receive the best educational experience this school year.
Peoria Public Schools are asking families to continue to stay updated as they approach the new first day through the messages sent from the district and from building principals.
