SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday reported more than 4,000 cases of COVID-19 again, including a higher number than usual of deaths as well.
A total of 4,342 cases were announced between Tuesday and Wednesday to go along with 69 additional deaths due to the virus.
The state’s preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate continues to trend upwards.
From Oct. 14 – 20, IDPH reports a positivity rate of 5.7%.
Within the last 24 hours, 66,791 COVID-19 tests were completed in Illinois for a total of 6,950,105 since the pandemic began.
As of Tuesday night, 2,338 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with the virus.
Of those, 502 were in the ICU and 194 were on ventilators.
IDPH is now reporting a total of 355,217 cases and 9,345 in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.
