PEORIA, Ill. — Unemployment in Peoria County more than doubled between Sept. 2019 and Sept. 2020.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security has released the numbers for the month.
The county’s unemployment rate for Sept. 2020 was 10.2%. This was an increase from 4.6% during that month in 2019.
Peoria as a city saw an increase from 5% in Sept. 2019 to 11.7% in Sept. 2020.
Tazewell County’s unemployment nearly doubled, from 3.9% to 7.4%, while Woodford went from 3.4% to 5.6%, Marshall increased from 4.1% to 6.8%, and Stark had a more moderate increase, from 4.7% to 6.5%.
