MORTON, Ill. — Morton School District 709 announced on Sunday coronavirus has affected multiple grades within multiple schools within the district.
All fifth and sixth grade students of Lettie Brown Elementary in Morton have been placed in immediate quarantine.
Two students in sixth tested positive over the weekend for the virus.
The quarantining of the fifth graders was announced after two teachers within the grade were notified they may have been infected because of close contact with a positive case.
A fourth grader at the school tested positive, which has caused a dozen students within that grade to be quarantined.
Morton Academy staff and students will be quarantining. 16 students there are enrolled through an agreement with the Guardian House, which announced a staff member tested positive.
The district had no further comment.
