SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — One day after Illinois set a new 24-hour high for COVID-19 cases, it repeated that action.
Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,363 people between Wednesday and Thursday tested positive for the virus.
That number topped Wednesday’s then-high case count by over 200.
56 additional deaths were reported.
Labs throughout the state reported taking in 83,056 specimens to test for COVID.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate jumped to 6.9%.
3,030 people as of Wednesday night were hospitalized with the virus.
643 patients were in intensive care, with 269 patients requiring the use of ventilators.
