PEORIA, Ill. — It’s been busy, but pretty much smooth sailing for the Peoria County Election Commission, according to Executive Director Thomas Bride, just days ahead of the 2020 election.
Bride told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, his office has seen a record number of people voting early.
“We’ve had almost 45,000 people in Peoria County who have voted. About 25,500 of those have done it by mail, and a little over 19,000 have done it in person,” Bride said.
Bride said if you’ve received your mail-in ballot and haven’t returned it yet, do so as soon as possible.
“It does need to be post marked by Election Day to count, but the sooner we get it, the less likely we are to run into a problem with that,” Bride said.
Mail-in ballots can be dropped off at the new drop boxes at the Peoria County Election Commission, 4422 Brandywine Drive, or at any early voting location.
Peoria County’s early voting continues through this weekend.
The Election Commission will also be open from 9-5 Saturday and Sunday.
Polls will be open Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 6 a.m.- 7 p.m. for in-person voting.
