SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinoisans are being tested for COVID-19 at record numbers, as evidenced by the 95,111 tests administered between Thursday and Friday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said 6,943 tests during that time came back positive, also a new high.
36 deaths were reported.
3,092 hospital beds as of Thursday night were being occupied by people with the virus or possible cases of it.
Of the virus cases in hospitals, 673 were intensive care-level, with 288 requiring ventilators.
