PEORIA, Ill. — As Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties prepare for Wednesday’s mitigation restrictions to take effect throughout the encompassing Region Two, the tri-county is reeling from a weekend COVID-19 case count of 543.
270 of the cases were Peoria County residents, 197 belonged to Tazewell, and Woodford accounted for the other 76.
There was a death: a Peoria County man in his 80s with comorbidities who did not live in long-term care.
99 tri-county people as of Monday afternoon were hospitalized in relation to the virus. 31 of those cases were in intensive care beds.
The area’s recovery rate dipped to 78.01%.
Region Two’s seven-day rolling positivity rate rose to 9.7%. Once mitigation takes effect, the region must be at a positivity rate of 6.5% or lower for three consecutive days.
