EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Following an announcement from Gov. J-B Pritzker’s office and the Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday regarding COVID-19 resurgence mitigations for Region 2, East Peoria Mayor John Kahl said the city will not enforce the restrictions.
In a Facebook post, Kahl said, “The businesses of East Peoria have done their part throughout these challenging times and not a single one of them has been found by the Health Department to pose a risk to public health.”
Region 2, which includes Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties, will enter mitigation on Wednesday, Nov. 4, that prohibits restaurants and bars from serving indoors. Outdoor dining is allowed, but reservations are required.
Outdoor food and bar service must end at 11 p.m., the same time casinos must close.
