SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois State Police has been preparing for months, participating in readiness exercises, to make sure Election Day, Nov. 3, is safe.
ISP Director Brendan Kelly said troopers and intelligence experts have been keeping close tabs on the election, monitoring for any potential problems and lending support to local authorities as needed.
“Since its inception, the Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center has supported elected officials with information sharing and analysis of security events,” Kelly said.
Kelly adds, State Police will also be available on Election Day to help local law enforcement with any problems at polling places.
“With threats to public officials, bomb threats, suspicious packages and other criminal investigations that could be related to elections,” Kelly said.
