PEORIA, Ill. — Pekin Mayor Mark Luft has won Illinois’ Dist. 91 House of Representatives seat, taking 63% of the vote, defeating challenger Josh Grys.
Luft told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, there’s a chance he could remain Pekin’s mayor and serve the 91st District simultaneously, if the council give its approval.
“We had conversation about this when I decide to do this. We talked with staff and the council, and I had a lot of support, so we moved forward,” Luft said.
Luft said Pekin City Council will see a lot of changes in the coming months, and he still have unfinished business with the city that he’d like to see through.
“I started several projects here when I came in, and I want to make sure that those are followed through. So, we still have time for discussion,” Luft said.
Luft took 63% of the vote in District 91, which includes parts of Fulton, Peoria and Tazewell Counties.
