PEORIA, Ill. — Region Two’s COVID-19 rolling seven-day positivity rate as of Monday was above 8% for the 11th day in a row.
It sat at 13.2%.
When a region has been above 8% for 14 consecutive days, Illinois Department of Public Health can recommend stricter mitigation measures although, as Peoria City/County Health Department Communications and Programs Manager Diana Scott said, “they have been giving a few days after to notify public before next tier mitigations take effect.”
Region Two has been in tier one mitigation since last Wednesday.
IDPH’s website said next tier mitigations can include “reducing capacity on organized group recreation, fitness, or other activities supported by local contact tracing data and temporary suspension of certain activities.”
Three deaths occurred: in Peoria County, a male in his 80s who was not associated with a long term care facility, and a female in her 90s, who was a resident of Christian Buehler.
Tazewell County experienced the death of a man in his 70s. He was not a resident of a long term care facility.
Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties between Friday and Monday combined for 917 new COVID cases.
In Peoria, 443 people tested positive while, in Tazewell, that number was 355 and, in Woodford, 119 did.
120 people were in area hospitals as of Monday afternoon with the virus. 34 of them were in intensive care.
The area’s recovery rate dropped to 73.25%.
