PEORIA, Ill. — Record high temperatures on Monday could lead to severe weather Tuesday afternoon in the Peoria metro area.
“Although we’ll see a few scattered showers this (Tuesday) morning, the main event comes this (Tuesday) afternoon between 3:00 and 5:00. A strong cold front could bring an isolated tornado northwest of the (Illinois) river, otherwise most of us could see damaging winds and large hail in fast moving thunderstorms,” Chuck Collins, news partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist, said.
Collins said our area could also see 45 mile per hour non-thunderstorm wind gusts throughout Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Wind Advisory for the 1470 and 100.3 WMBD listening area from noon-8 p.m. and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch from 11:20 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday for Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties.
