SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — With over 12,623 new COVID-19 cases reported between Monday and Tuesday throughout Illinois, the state has now seen over 500,000 cases since the start of the pandemic.
Illinois Department of Public Health also reported 79 new deaths.
Labs throughout the state took in 101,955 specimens. The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate rose to 12%.
Hospitals in total reported 4,742 people with the virus or suspected cases of the virus as of Monday were occupying their beds. 911 of them were in intensive care, and 399 needed ventilator assistance.
