PEKIN, Ill. — Pekin officials say they will be closing city buildings and facilities, including City Hall, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“This action is being undertaken to limit the community spread of the coronavirus, lessen exposure of City employees, and to help reduce the burdens on health care facilities and first responders,” a news released stated.
Pekin City facilities will be closed to the general public, but services will still be available via phone, online and by appointment.
Utility bills can be paid online, by mail, or at the drop box at 500 Elizabeth Street.
Candidates circulating petitions for the upcoming April 2021 municipal elections can still submit their petitions by calling the City Clerk’s Office. One of the city clerks will be available form 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day to properly certify the filings.
A reopen date for Pekin City Hall will depend on COVID-19 cases in the area.
