SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise in Illinois, Gov. J-B Pritzker is urging everyone to stay home as much as possible.
The number of COVID patients in the hospital has increased by 260% over the past month and a half in Illinois.
So the message is simple, Pritzker said, “Stay home if you can, and wear a mask if you go out.”
“Because what nurses, doctors and health care workers are experiencing now in their hospitals, is as challenging as what they experienced last spring,” Pritzker said.
Illinois is averaging about 5,200 COVID patients in the hospital each day.
“That’s 400 more individuals that at our spring high,” Pritzker said.
The number of hospitalizations in Illinois due to COVID-19 has risen 70% in just the last two weeks.
Other states are seeing the same trends, meaning there will likely be no health care workers from surrounding areas that can be called in to help here in Illinois.
