BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Ferrero North America announced Thursday it will be building a new chocolate manufacturing center in Bloomington, Ill.
This plant will be Ferrero’s first chocolate production plant in North America.
The manufacturing center will expand Ferrero’s existing Bloomington facility, allowing the company to produce chocolate for products like Crunch, SnoCaps and 100Grand at the new site.
“This investment represents an important milestone as we continue to expand our offering of high-quality products for consumers across North America,” said Giovanni Ferrero, Executive Chairman of the Ferrero Group.
Governor J.B. Pritzker is pleased with the plans to build the new center in Illinois.
“This is an investment in the people and community of Bloomington — and my administration is proud to have Ferrero as a community partner in this enterprise zone, spurring new jobs and economic development.”
The new center is expected to create around 50 local jobs.
The addition will add 70,000 square feet to the current building, costing $75 million. Construction is set to begin in spring 2021.
Ferrero North America is part of the global confectionary company Ferrero Group.
