SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The amount of people as of Wednesday night in Illinois hospitals with the coronavirus surpassed the 6,000 mark.
Illinois Department of Public Health reported Thursday 6,037 hospital beds were being occupied by patients either with the virus or with suspected cases of it.
1,192 of those hospitalized patients had cases severe enough to be intensive care-level. 587 ventilators were being used to assist patients’ breathing.
14,612 new cases of the virus were reported statewide, to go along with 168 new deaths.
Testing labs throughout the state between Wednesday and Thursday collected 113,447 specimens to test for the virus. The seven-day positivity rate was 12%.
