SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Even as over 13,000 Illinoisans tested positive between Thursday and Friday for COVID-19, the state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate has gone down by half a percentage point.
Illinois Department of Public Health said 13,012 people received positive test results, but the positivity rate went from 12% to 11.5%.
126 COVID-related deaths were reported during the period.
Labs throughout the state reported taking in 116,024 specimens to test for COVID.
Coronavirus hospitalizations continued their upward swing, with 6,111 patients as of Thursday night in hospital beds throughout Illinois.
Of those hospitalized, 1,196 were in intensive care. 604 required ventilator assistance.
