PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria City Clerk Beth Ball has announced she will not be running for another term in her post.
In a statement, Ball, who has served the city since 1989, said “I’m not only thankful for the experience of serving in this position, but it’s been my honor to work with such an amazing community.”
Peoria Police officer Shawn Allen in August declared his candidacy for the position.
Deputy City Clerk Stephanie Tarr has also filed candidacy paperwork.
Ball joined the City in 1989 as Chief Deputy Clerk. Mayor Jim Ardis then appointed her in 2012 as City Clerk, when she completed the term of her predecessor, Mary Haynes, before running unopposed in 2013 and 2017.
Her term expires in May of 2021.
