PEORIA, Ill. — A driver who was on the wrong side of I-74 caused a portion of the interstate near Downtown Peoria to be shut down Thanksgiving night.
State Police said just before 10 p.m. a Kia Optima was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes with no headlights near milepost 93.
A car travelling westbound veered off the road to avoid a head-on crash, but clipped a passenger side mirror and hit a concrete barrier in the median.
Police have not said whether the wrong-way driver has been arrested or not.
No one was injured in the incident.
