SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — 12,542 people throughout Illinois tested positive between Monday and Tuesday for the coronavirus.
The state’s death toll from the virus rose during that period by 125.
Testing remained prolific, with 116,081 specimens taken in by labs throughout the state.
Hospitalizations did see a narrow drop, with 5,835 beds as of Monday night occupied. 1,195 of those beds were in intensive care units, while 721 virus patients also needed the help of ventilators to breathe.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate rose to 10.4%.
