PEORIA, Ill. — Area hospital beds were freed up drastically between Monday and Tuesday of COVID-19 patients.
After 248 patients as of Monday afternoon were hospitalized, 173 as of Tuesday afternoon were in area hospitals, an increase in capacity by 75.
53 of Tuesday’s hospitalized patients were in intensive care.
Peoria City/County Health Department reported three new COVID-related deaths.
In Peoria County, a man in his 60s passed away, while a man in his 70s from Tazewell County and one in his 80s also died. No information was released regarding comorbidities or long-term care residency.
Including Woodford County, a total of 344 tri-county residents got positive test results.
174 of the new positive cases reside in Peoria County, while 119 were Tazewell residents, and 51 were in Woodford.
The area’s recovery rate slightly increased, to 66.53%.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate remained where it was as of Monday, at 13.1%.
