PEORIA, Ill. — The tri-county area of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties has now had a total of 264 deaths due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The Peoria City/County Health Department Wednesday announced seven additional deaths in the last 24 hours.
One death was reported in Peoria County, a man in his 80s with comorbidities.
Tazewell reported four deaths. Two were males in their 70s. In addition, a male in his 80s passed who was a resident of Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
The other death in Tazewell County was a male in his 80s who resided at Washington Senior Living.
Woodford County reported the other two deaths. One was a female in her 70s with comorbidities, while the other was a female in her 80s with comorbidities that lived at Apostolic Christian Eureka.
Overall, there were 326 new cases reported Wednesday in the tri-county.
Tazewell reported the most new cases with 152, Peoria reported 150 and Woodford reported 24.
The recovered rate dropped slightly and is now at 65.94%.
The home isolating rate went up and now sits at 32.1%.
The hospitalized rate went up very slightly, .01%, and is now at .47%.
However, fewer people are in area hospitals on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.
On Wednesday, 170 patients were in area hospitals and 48 in the ICU. That’s three fewer people in the hospital and five fewer in the ICU compared to Tuesday, respectively.
For the first time since tier three mitigation took hold, Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate went up. The number Wednesday was 13.3%.
