PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — A Peoria County crash left one person dead overnight.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell confirms that deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 40 near Edelstein, just north of Route 90, shortly after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.
“It appeared the vehicle was travelling southbound before it ran off the roadway, got in some loose gravel, overcorrected, and unfortunately rolling over,” Asbell said.
A passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a second passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“The identity of the deceased passenger will be released by the coroner’s office at the proper time,” Asbell said.
The crash remained under investigation.
