PEORIA, Ill. — Three area residents died of COVID-19 complications between Tuesday and Wednesday as the Peoria City/County Health Department also reported 289 new cases.
A Peoria County woman in her 40s with comorbidities died. A Tazewell County man in his 60s and one in his 90s also passed away.
None of the deaths were reported to have occurred in long-term care facilities.
133 of the most recent positive tests were of Tazewell residents. 125 of the tests were in Peoria, while the other 31 were Woodford County residents.
Hospitalizations went up by five, from 169 to 174. 44 of the 174 were in intensive care units.
Region Two’s ICU bed availability was at 15.8%, the eighth consecutive day that metric has been below 20%.
That said, Region Two has seen 10 consecutive days of a decrease in overall COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
The region’s rolling seven-day positivity rate decreased to 13.3%, still far above the 12% mark a region must meet for three consecutive days in order to be moved from tier three mitigation to tier two.
The area’s recovery rate increased to just below 67%.
