SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The death toll between Tuesday and Wednesday form COVID-19 throughout Illinois was a relatively high 179.
That number came form the Illinois Department of Public Health, which also said 8,256 people during the reporting period tested positive.
Labs throughout the state collected 92,737 specimens to be tested for COVID. The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate remained below 10%, down to 9.6%.
5,284 people were in Illinois hospitals with the virus. 1,176 of them were intensive care-level cases, and 647 required the use of ventilators for breathing assistance.
