SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Nearly 200 people in the state of Illinois between Wednesday and Thursday died from COVID-19 complications.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 11,101 new positive cases during that time, to go along with 196 deaths.
5,138 hospital beds throughout the state were being occupied as of Thursday night by people with the virus or with suspected cases of it. 1,081 of those beds were in intensive care units, while 606 ventilators were being utilized to assist COVID patients’ breathing.
Labs throughout the state received 114,503 specimens to be tested. The rolling seven-day positivity rate was 9.5%.
