PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria County added two deaths between Monday and Tuesday to its COVID totals.
A woman in her 90s who lived at Sharon Elms and a man in his 60s with comorbidities both succumbed to virus complications.
A combined total of 266 tests came back positive during that time in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties. Peoria reported 132, while Tazewell had 115, and Woodford accounted for the other 19.
179 hospital beds were being used for COVID purposes, 49 of which were in intensive care units.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate dropped to 10.6%, marking the third straight day of a positivity rate below 12%, and meeting a key metric for moving the region up to tier two mitigation level.
The region was also at its 11th consecutive day of a med/surg bed availability of above 20%.
However, the region remained below a 20% ICU bed availability. It must be above 20% for three consecutive days before the region can be moved up to tier two.
Additionally, the region is at five days of a decrease in hospital admittances. That number must reach seven days.
