PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department announced an estimated 1,260 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will have been administered across UnityPoint and OSF hospitals by the end of Thursday.
1,695 vaccines arrived in the Tri-County area this week, according to Public Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson.
“As the FDA continues to deliberate on the next vaccine, we hope that that also adds more vaccine to our community so we can continue getting individuals vaccinated as soon as possible,” said Hendrickson.
Vaccine doses are expected to arrive at long-term care facilities across the state in the last week of December and into January.
The prioritization of vaccine reception for long-term care facilities will likely depend on capacity, said Hendrickson.
Despite vaccines arriving in hospitals across the state, there is still no timetable for distribution to the general population.
“Our timeline keeps moving on us, and it’s going to be by supply. We just don’t know when our vaccine is going to be rolled in and how much we are going to get,” said Hendrickson.
For vaccine distribution information, Hendrickson urges citizens to monitor the Peoria City/County Health Department website.
