PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday announced 44 people were in area hospitals with COVID-19 or suspected cases.
That’s a decrease of seven from Friday, when 51 patients were in area hospitals.
There were two fewer people in ICU beds and five fewer patients in non-ICU beds Monday compared to Friday.
The Peoria City/County Health Department also announced three new COVID-19 related deaths that took place over the weekend in the tri-county of Peoria, Woodford and Tazewell.
One death reported was a Peoria County woman in her 60s who resided at Sharon Elms.
The other two deaths over the weekend were residents of Tazewell County: a woman in her 70s who resided at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria and a woman in her 90s who resided at Lakeside Rehab and Healthcare in East Peoria.
Overall, 309 new cases of COVID-19 came up throughout the tri-county over the weekend.
129 new cases were reported in Peoria County, 124 were reported in Tazewell and 56 new cases were reported in Woodford.
Region 2 of Illinois, which encompasses the tri-county area, continues to meet all requirements to stay in Phase 4 of Restore Illinois.
Rolling seven-day positivity rate did increase slightly and is now at 5.5% but is still well under the required 6.5%.
