PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported a slight increase in area hospitalizations over the weekend.
On Friday, there were 31 patients in area hospitalizations with the virus. On Monday, that number was 36 with 11 being in the intensive care unit.
Two area deaths were also reported by the health department that occurred over the weekend, and both were from Tazewell County.
Both residents who died from the virus were males, one in his 60s and one in his 80s.
Overall, 163 cases were reported from Saturday to Monday in the area for an average of just 54 new cases per day.
Tazewell County had the most new cases come up with 72, Peoria County added 66 cases and Woodford County has an additional 25.
On a regional level, the rolling seven-day positivity rate is at 3.9%.
