PEORIA, Ill. — The East Bluff Community Center (EBCC) unveiled its brand revitalization Thursday in front of board members and media, as well as virtual attendees.
EBCC Board President Tim Cunningham opened the event by discussing the EBCC’s history and outlined the progress the center has made since its beginning eight years ago.
“East Bluff people are hardworking, resilient, loyal, good-natured and above all, proudly community minded, and that trait is the trait that our founders exhibited when they dared to dream of this place eight years ago,” said Cunningham.”We operated this place for the first seven years with a volunteer staff and a board.
“We steadily and purposely started adding partners, started adding programs and started adding more support, and that has resulted in more events, a growing community, acceptance of the community, higher engagement and a very positive impact.”
Some of the programs within the EBCC include the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Peoria, Turning Point and the EBCC Food Pantry.
Executive Director Kari Jones later described how the center and its new brand hope to respond to the desires of East Bluff residents.
“We know that what people really want here is more youth engagement opportunities,” said Jones. “People want opportunities to work to beautify the neighborhood, to increase the safety in the neighborhood, and so this brand just rolls with all of that.”
John Seckler, the graphic designer who created the logo, drew inspiration from the original building and wanted to incorporate vibrant colors into his design.
The ideas of vibrancy and energy, unification and the importance of engaging the youth are what drove the design of the logo, said Seckler.
