PEORIA, Ill. — A man was shot in the chest Tuesday afternoon in Peoria.
Public Information Officer Amy Dotson told news partner 25 News that three shotspotter alerts came in just before 4:30 p.m. from the 1900 block of N. New York, the 600 block of E. Nebraska, and the 500 block of E. Kansas.
“A male arrived to a local hospital a short while later by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest. His condition is unknown at this time,” Dotson said.
Preliminary information indicated an occupant of a vehicle began shooting at another vehicle in the vicinity of the ShotSpotter alerts.
“One of the vehicles involved crashed into a utility pole in the area of Frye and Peoria, causing significant damage and downed power lines,” Dotson said.
Occupants of the vehicle that crashed fled the area on foot.
The incident remains under investigation.
