SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health reported as of Wednesday, 80% of Illinois senior citizens and 60% of all the state’s adults, overall, have gotten at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“As President Biden sets the goal of vaccinating 70% of adults by July 4, 2021, Illinois has administered more doses than the national average and will continue to pursue innovative strategies to encourage all eligible residents to get vaccinated,” IDPH said in its daily report.
Around 56,000 vaccines were administered between Tuesday and Wednesday.
2,410 people during the 24-hour reporting period tested positive. 30 died.
A total of 2,060 people as of Tuesday night were hospitalized with the virus, of whom 496 were in intensive care units, and 249 were on ventilators.
Labs throughout the state reported a total of 77,670 specimen collections.
