PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria Walgreens had to be evacuated and shut down Saturday morning due to an unknown substance found in a sealed container by the store’s entrance, at 2515 N Knoxville Ave.
Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics found the container, which was one gallon, and shut down the business for the safety of the public due to the unknown origin and nature of the substance.
The Peoria Fire Department Hazardous Materials team was able to seal the container in an eight-gallon drum without incident.
Overall, the incident took nearly an hour and a half to get under control.
There were no injuries reported at the incident.
