SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Monday reported just 521 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 33 additional deaths.
It’s the lowest number of COVID cases reported in Illinois since June 22, 2020, when 462 were reported.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) more than half of Illinois adults were considered fully vaccinated as of Sunday.
As of Sunday night, 1,093 Illinoisans were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 294 were in the ICU and 167 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity is just 2%.
22,255 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered Sunday, an expected lower number due to the holiday weekend.
The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is just over 50,000. More than 11.2 million doses have been administered overall in the state.
