PEORIA, Ill. — Despite being closed for Memorial Day, thus adding an extra day to its totals, the Peoria City/County Health Department on Tuesday reported only 37 new COVID-19 cases over the three-day weekend for Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties, combined.
21 of the new cases were in Tazewell, Peoria residents accounted for 13 of the new cases, while Woodford added three to its totals.
A Peoria woman in her 70s died, as did a Tazewell man in his 40s.
Tri-county hospitalizations did jump from 49 to 57. 15 of the 57 as of Tuesday afternoon were in intensive care beds.
The greater Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity as of Tuesday was down to 1.9%, while ICU bed availability was up to 23%, and the overall number of regional hospitalizations had dropped from Monday to Tuesday by four.
