CHICAGO (FOX News) — Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot offered her condolences on Sunday to the loved ones of Police Officer Ella French, who was killed in Chicago on Saturday night.
“Tragedy has struck again. We mourn the loss of a young officer,” Lightfoot said.
Authorities said Officer French and another officer were shot in West Englewood shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. The male officer is in critical condition.
Mayor Lightfoot said that some people believe not enough is done for police.
“There are others who say we do too much for the police, and that we never hold them accountable for what they do, especially in black and brown neighborhoods. To all of this, I say stop,” Lightfoot said.
There are three suspects in the shooting. Two of them have been arrested, a third suspect fled the scene.
