UPDATE – PEORIA, Ill. – The victim of a weekend car-motorcycle crash in Peoria Heights has been identified.
Ian Nemeth Jr., 22, of Loda was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center moments after the crash which occurred around 3:10 a.m. Saturday on Route 29 (Galena Road) at East Riverview Court.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said an autopsy revealed Nemeth died of severe, multiple blunt force injuries. Toxicology results are pending.
An initial investigation determined Nemeth was the lone occupant of the motorcycle which collided head-on with the vehicle.
Illinois State Police Monday said Nemeth was traveling southbound on Route 29 in the northbound lanes, east of East Riverview Court in Peoria County at around 3:10 a.m. on August 7.
Nemeth then collided head-on with a 2013 white Toyota Prius, state police said in a release.
Nemeth was found in the roadway on Route 29 south of the vehicles, unresponsive, not breathing and with no pulse. Harwood said despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, Nemeth was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:42 a.m.
Harwood did not know whether or not Nemeth was wearing a helmet.
Illinois State Police is continuing its investigation.

PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – A car-motorcycle accident has claimed one life.
Illinois State Police are investigating the accident which occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday on Route 29, Galena Road, near Riverview Court in Peoria Heights.
Peoria Heights Police Chief Dustin Sutton confirmed to the Journal Star that one person was killed, but he did not know if the victim was in the car or on the motorcycle.
No official information has been released.
Galena Road near the accident scene was closed until around 8:30 a.m. while officers and state troopers conducted their investigation.
