PEORIA, Ill. – (25 News) – New Beginnings Worship Center Church hosted its 11th annual Back-to-School Festival Saturday in South Peoria.
Pastor Quinton Brown said the event aimed to help underprivileged families get everything they need in time for the return to school.
There were dentists and doctors giving checkups and physicals, a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinic for kids ages 12 to 17, and prize giveaways, including brand new bikes.
Brown said there are a few things he hoped visitors left with.
“First of all, the feeling of love – that we care about them,” Brown said. “And also, that we are meeting their needs and whatever that need may be. If it’s dental, physicals, whatever they need for school – whatever it is, I hope they had a great time here and got a good impression of our church as well.”
Brown said donations from local stores, restaurants and residents helped make Saturday’s event possible.
