PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police are distributing pictures of a pickup truck involved in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man at Stop N’ Save in the 800 block of NE Jefferson.
Police responded just after 6 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple shots fired.
Officers found the man dead inside the store.
Police detectives believe the truck that left the scene is a blue 2012 Chevy Silverado that was previously reported stolen with the license plate number 1413403B, with aftermarket chrome and a bed cover.
Occupants of the truck are considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
The incident is being investigated as Peoria’s 23rd homicide of the year.
Anyone with information about the shooting, or who has camera footage that might help investigators, is asked to contact the PPD’s Detective Jake Beck at (309) 494-8480 or CrimeStoppers anonymously at (309) 673-9000.
Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria told news partner 25 News, “This is another senseless killing. We have to be done with this violence. This is enough. Young men and women on the streets of Peoria – there’s no respect for life. We have to start getting back to respecting life.”
