PEORIA, Ill. — A hotel in downtown Peoria was evacuated Wednesday night due to a natural gas leak nearby.
Peoria firefighters were called around 8:15 p.m. to the Packard Plaza building at 211 NE Adams.
Battalion Chief Scott Strum said a technician already on the scene detected high levels of natural gas in the building.
Crews shut off the gas. One person at Packard Plaza made it out before firefighters arrived.
Strum said 10 people staying at the Mark Twain Hotel were evacuated as a precaution.
Crews were on the scene until about 11 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
