PEORIA, Ill. – A lawsuit filed in the wake of this year’s Peoria mayoral election has been dismissed.
Our news partner 25 News reports candidate Jim Montelongo “failed to demonstrate clear, ascertainable right to the relief requested,” according to a court order.
Montelongo filed the suit against the Peoria County Election Commission and director Tom Bride after a recount failed to show a change in vote totals between him and Mayor Rita Ali, and after he conceded the race.
Ali won the election by about 40 votes.
Montelongo’s suit accused the election commission of failing to properly store and count ballots.
