SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Twelve Central Illinois school districts are among 145 districts named alongside the State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Public Health and Gov. J.B. Pritzker in a lawsuit opposing COVID-19 restrictions.
Attorney Thomas DeVore is representing dozens of parents in the suit that was filed Wednesday in MaCoupin County.
At issue is whether the school districts can require students to wear a mask, and whether the schools can exclude students without quarantine from the local health department. The lawsuit asks for an injunction on both accounts.
News partner 25 News reports that the defendants include school districts in Dunlap, Metamora, Germantown Hills, Eureka, Roanoke-Benson, Brimfield, Morton, El Paso-Gridley and Limestone.
