Peoria, Ill — An illegal alien living in Peoria will now spend roughly the next three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to gun charges.
U.S. Attorneys say a multi-agency task force found 28-year-old Pedro Lozolla in posession of a sawed-off shotgun.
Lozolla reportedly kept it because he liked the way it looked.
Prosecutors say he also admitted to selling drugs for several months here in town.
A news release says Lozolla lived in the 21-hundred block of West Garden Street in a neighborhood south of Lincoln Avenue in Peoria.
Federal prosecutors note that he is also receiving considerably less than the maximum sentence for his crimes.
The statutory penalties for posession of a firearm by an an illegal alien are up to 10 years in prison, 3 years supervised release and fines up to $250,000.
Agencies involved in Lozolla’s case included the DEA, Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, and the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
